TESTIMONIES

TERESA

"It is imperitave that people incorporate renewable energy regularly into their daily lives."

Teresa, Energy Technology Major '19

I'm a freshman in the energy technology program, with an intended double major of sustainability and sustainable energy science. It is imperative that people incorporate renewable energy regularly into their daily lives. I want to work to make sustainable energy more available and affordable to those who need it most and are most directly affected by climate change-- farmers and people of developing nations. This is an issue that cannot wait!

ALA'A

"Community-engangement projects reminds me about the value in my work"

Ala'a, Energy Technology Major '16

As a freshman, I was unsure my first semester. I had a background in physics, but I wanted a major where I could also express my art background. I became part of the Energy Technology Program my second semester, and this was my best decision at Creighton. The project-based classes really aided to my learning from creating smaller 3D designs to larger-scale solar arrays. I loved seeing my ideas transition from rough sketches into implemented designs. Community-engagement projects reminds me about the value in my work and how sustainable design benefits everyone. The Energy Technology Program allows me to use my creativity to solve real-world problems and help others see the beauty and power of nature.

STASHA

"I am now a key in connecting people to nature"

Stasha, Energy Technology Major '16

When I first came to Creighton, I had the intention of becoming a veterinarian – as I have always had a deep love of animals and the natural world. When talking to a Faculty Advisor about my interests he told me that with my creative side and love of science I should take a class within the Energy Technology Program, just to see if it would be better suited for me. I ended up taking Design and Rapid Prototyping and I fell in love with the program. I became fascinated with bettering the environment through renewables and sustainability, and loved that I could take my imagination into designing – utilizing my sketching and love of art. Needless to say, I am no longer going down the road to be a veterinarian – but I have found myself. I am just displaying my love for furry creatures and wildlife in a different way. I am now a key in connecting people to nature through my major in the Energy Technology Program.

KAREN

"I love the real-world focus of the program."

Karen, Energy Technology Major '16

I began my time in college as a business major. After a year went by I realized I was unhappy with that choice and wasn't being challenged enough in my classes. When searching for a new major, it was by luck that the Energy Technology Program caught my attention, and I am so glad it did. I enjoy my classes, I am challenged by my professors, and I like the opportunities ahead of me in the energy field. On top of all of that, I love the real-world focus of the program. We are given real-life challenges to face in class, and even go out into the community to learn while helping others.
